In addition to several research presentations, research poster and a final report, IMPACT-NG REU participants are working on a research e-journal. The E-Journals are an online resource to document work and share with peers for feedback to help better document this research experience. Students will use this e-journal everyday to document their work, they will use the content to put together weekly presentation slides, final research poster, and final report. The research journal will be created in Google Drive, where peers can review and comment interactively. Each student will pick 2 names randomly each week and will become a reviewer for other 2 students. Each students will get their journal reviewed by 2 reviewers each week. Reviewers are expected to critique constructively, catch any spelling and grammar errors, and give general advise on improving the document so the narrative is both enjoyable and effective. The template for this journal will be provided but we highly encourage students using their creativity in developing a format that works best for them.
At the end of the summer REU participants will enter a contest with prizes for their e-journals work.
We will cast votes for the following categories. All 3 winner will get a prize!:
“Most Unique”
“Best Documented”
“Most Interesting Read”
2021 e-Journals Plan and Timeline:
Peer reviews will be done weekly. Each participant will randomly pick 2 names each week to review (by Friday at noon of the following week).
